New Football Stadium

Colorado State University’s football stadium outlived its useful life after nearly 50 years. As a result, the school wanted to build a new home for the Rams in a more convenient on-campus location. Salas O’Brien used our cold-formed steel (CFS) engineering expertise to combat several challenges, including 60-foot walls with no intermediate support and an expedited construction schedule. CFS addressed these challenges by providing a lighter, more versatile construction material that was more durable and cost-effective for the structural supports for stone columns, soffit ceilings, and the jumbotron wall. The CFS engineering design was split into 18 separate areas and completed in phases over three months to compress the project schedule and successfully meet the university’s requirements.
