New Catalyst Recovery Unit

Salas O’Brien was part of the design team that worked with this producer of specialty polyester polymers, the world’s only commercial manufacturing facility for an essential chemical compound. When their Catalyst Recovery Unit (CRU) reached the end of its useful life, the production team was no longer able to separate and recycle catalyst metals, which is a critical component of the manufacturing process.

Our team thoroughly analyzed the available options and eventually installed a new CRU. The installation required the construction of a multi-level structure large enough to support the equipment. We provided comprehensive mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrument design services. The new CRU significantly reduced net greenhouse gas emissions, lowered overall capital expenditures, and improved the safety and reliability of the entire production process.
