Fire Damage Assessment

Salas O’Brien partnered with Jamalco, a bauxite mining and alumina production company, to assess the damage caused by a fire to the refinery’s powerhouse. The powerhouse housed boilers and equipment within a warehouse. As a result, the plant had to shut down entirely as the powerhouse supplied power, compressed air, and steam to the facility.

Our team evaluated the site and acted as an advisor for the $19 million recovery plan. As a part of a long-term recovery strategy, our team suggested building a new gas-fired powerhouse to replace the rented equipment.

This project required seamless collaboration between our talented structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, construction consultants, meteorologists, and scanning experts to deliver comprehensive solutions. After ten months of closure, the plant finally reconvened its operations.
