SunTrax Autonomous Vehicle Facility

Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise invested $146 million in the SunTrax facility, which is the only high-speed autonomous vehicle testing track in the southeastern part of the United States. 

Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, primary power distribution systems, a 1,500-ton central energy plant, and associated chilled water piping distribution to ensure safe testing of emerging technologies in controlled and simulated environments. The expansive facility also comprises approximately 100,000 square feet of maintenance, warehouse, workshop, and support spaces. This state-of-the-art track is leading the way toward a bright future for autonomous vehicle testing in Florida.
