SunTrax Autonomous Vehicle Facility

With an investment of $146 million, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise created the SunTrax facility – the only high-speed autonomous vehicle test track in the southeastern United States. Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing design, primary power distribution systems, a 1,500 ton central energy plant and associated chilled water piping distribution to support safe testing of emerging technologies in controlled, simulated environments. The expansive facility also includes nearly 100,000 square feet of maintenance, warehouse, workshop and support spaces. This state-of-the-art track is paving the way for a bright future for autonomous vehicle testing in Florida.
