School District Tornado Damage Analysis

Salas O’Brien collaborated with one of the largest school districts in Texas to assess the extensive damage caused by an EF-3 tornado to a high school, middle school, and elementary school.

Our team provided forensic structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering and construction consulting after an initial assessment. We also estimated repair costs and conducted a meteorological analysis. To document the damage, we utilized Matterport and drones, marking the largest project ever processed by Matterport. In addition, we held daily meetings with the client, project partners, and their consultants.

Our team collaborated with the client’s engineering consultant to determine the necessary scope of repairs for each school, expediting the adjustment process, allowing the school district to swiftly proceed with demolishing and rebuilding one school, renovating another, and repairing the third school to minimize disruption to the students.
