Carbon Neutral Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Salas O’Brien partnered with an international pharmaceutical manufacturing company to help offset their carbon emissions generated. The goal was to be carbon neutral by 2025 and carbon negative by 2030. After careful examination, it was determined that the best solution for them was a 4.5 mega-watt combined heat and power system (CHP).

We provided conceptual drawings and assisted with preparing the corporate budget request application, including determining existing carbon sources that would be offset by the new CHP system and claiming any potential emissions reductions.

The new CHP system enables our client to reduce overall energy consumption and decrease operating costs due to more efficient fuel sources. In addition, it has helped increase production capabilities while decreasing pollution levels due to its ability to capture waste heat from one process and use it in another. The overall result is that they have reduced their environmental impact while maintaining high efficiency and output.
