Lake Nona Medical Center

UCF Lake Nona Medical Center is a teaching hospital redefining healthcare delivery and research for the region. Salas O’Brien provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design for this innovative facility.

Our cutting-edge design includes high-efficiency magnetic bearing centrifugal chillers, dual-fuel condensing boilers, and advanced energy metering. Additionally, it features EV charging stations, daylight-responsive lighting controls, and enhanced outdoor air quality strategies.

Our team also designed a hurricane-hardened remote powerhouse that includes a central chilled water plant, domestic hot water plant, emergency water storage, and purification. As a result, the facility achieves 30 percent energy efficiency over ASHRAE 90.1-2010 baseline, earning 13 out of 20 energy and atmosphere optimization credits.
