Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah

Memorial Health’s Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah is transforming pediatric care in Southeast Georgia. With 58,000 square feet of renovated space and 24,000 square feet of new addition, the hospital features 50 beds, an 18-bed emergency department, a 14-bed pediatric intensive care unit, and four operating rooms. Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive design services for the hospital, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and IT infrastructure.

The facility design was limited by state certificate of need (CON) limits, with partial demolition and some equipment purchased against that CON limit before the project scope was reimagined by new owners. Our team partnered with the owner, project architects, and construction managers
to deliver the project within the approved CON limits and completion deadlines. The facility includes specialized units for cancer treatment, bleeding disorders, and surgical care. As the region’s only children’s hospital, it serves patients from over 100 counties.
