BNA Concourse D and Terminal Wings Expansion and Central Utility Plant

With airport traffic growing at a record pace each year, Nashville International Airport updated and expanded its terminal and Concourse D to offer a world-class passenger experience.

Salas O’Brien provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design for the expansion of Concourse D, including six new domestic aircraft gates and expanded Ticketing Lobby and Baggage Claim areas. The project also included 136,000 square feet of renovated terminal space and an 11,000-square-foot central utility plant.

Working with the design-build team, we phased work for minimal disruption, designed electrical redundancy for reliability, and delivered sustainable solutions like geothermal cooling, water-conserving plumbing, heat pump chillers, and free cooling heat exchangers. The award-winning result addresses the airport’s immediate needs and paves the way for future development.
