Historic theatre revived with acoustic design and renovations
BROOKLYN, NY, USA
Brooklyn Paramount Theatre
Built in 1928, the Brooklyn Paramount has hosted many iconic musicians.
The theatre transformed into a Long Island University basketball court
in 1962. In 2006, Live Nation began restoring the space as a theatre with
2,700 seats. This historic renovation revived the entire building, with seven
bars, a large lobby, a speakeasy-style basement event space, and the main
theatre area all needing upgrades and improvements.
Salas O’Brien provided acoustic design for the interior of the big music
room, a cavernous room with high ceilings and two viewing levels. Our
team kept the original beautiful architecture in mind while creating
designs. As the space had not hosted musical performances for six
decades, our team was able to design acoustics with diverse uses in mind.
