Condition Assessment Surveys

Salas O’Brien has conducted annual Condition Assessment Surveys (CAS) for the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, providing comprehensive evaluations of the facility’s assets in  Menlo Park, California. Our team performed detailed assessments of buildings, trailers, and other structures, adhering to Design of Experiments (DOE) guidelines and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. Our process included interviewing personnel, reviewing existing documentation, and conducting thorough on-site inspections. We categorized deficiencies, estimated repair costs using the CAIS Cost Estimating Module, and provided detailed reports with annotated vital plans. Additionally, we calculated Replacement Plant Values for various structures and presented findings to SLAC’s Facility Department. This meticulous approach, led by qualified Professional Engineers, ensured SLAC received accurate and comprehensive condition assessments of their tangible property assets, supporting informed decision-making for maintenance and modernization efforts.
