At the 2024 ICRI Spring Convention, Salas O’Brien’s Ahmad Saleh is presenting a session on Vibration Analysis and Monitoring of Bridges Tuesday, April 23, at 10:30 am CST.

Vibration analysis has been used to determine the condition of bridges and provide actual properties of the bridge to be used in design models.  After field measurements, the collected vibration data is used to determine whether the structure is stable or if there are local areas of distress affecting the stiffness of the structure.  This data can also be used to extract the actual properties of the structure for use in designing repairs or improvements.  Running a vibration analysis multiple times on the same bridge provides comparative results which can be used to track patterns of decay.  Long-term monitoring of structures can notify clients of abnormal deterioration of the structure.

Ahmad Saleh, PE has deep expertise is in structural engineering with a focus on assessment, structural capacity evaluation, and non-destructive testing experience. He has both Masters and Bachelors degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. Ahmad serves as a Project Manager for Salas O’Brien.
