He has also been responsible for leak investigations, building façade restoration, project coordination, developing project specifications, and detailed designs for curtain walls (unitized and stick built types), window walls, as well as precast concrete, masonry, metal panels, and soffits. For several projects, James performed review of fabrication for curtain wall produced at overseas manufacturing facilities in China (Beijing, Guangzhou), South Korea (Seoul) and Mexico (Tijuana).
James’ experience includes Architectural drawing review, shop drawing review, on site review and in factory quality assessment of ongoing construction projects. In restoration work, this has included investigation, development of repair strategies, structural guard load testing; paint application testing, and sealant pull tests both in field and factory; general tender forms for subcontractors, suppliers, and materials; and design and construction scheduling. James has determined project design requirements based on building science principles and governing legislature and performed field testing for water and air infiltration of cladding components. He has also produced conceptual design details for cladding systems by applying structural and thermal principles. James has also performed physical condition assessments of existing buildings as part of due diligence work. He routinely reviews building envelopes and roofs to assess their current condition and installation quality at both typical and transition details.
