Robotics solution improve manufacturing time, money, and sustainability

Salas O’Brien partnered with Mullins Cheese to streamline their production process. The client needed to rapidly cool 40-pound cheese blocks without using traditional cartons or cases, thereby reducing waste and related costs. To address this, our team implemented four customized robotic cells that automated the entire process. We meticulously planned and executed each step, from loading the cheese blocks into reusable trays to quickly cooling them, palletizing, and restacking empty trays.

Custom fill lines boost production capacity to meet demand

A prominent manufacturer in the carwash industry used manual fill lines to fill six container sizes for hundreds of products. However, the process was labor-intensive and inefficient. Salas O’Brien partnered with the client to develop a multi-phased plan to replace the manual fill lines with three fully automated lines. This approach minimized disruption to operations by keeping production running on the existing equipment until the final transition.

Facilitating a full production and packaging line overhaul

We worked closely with an international consumer products manufacturer to upgrade toilet paper production and packaging lines. We thoroughly audited the existing line to determine which equipment and hookups should be reused or removed due to wear. Our team designed and engineered the complete upgrade of an outdated line to a full converting, packaging, and palletizing system. To deliver efficient controls for the system, we upgraded the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Input/Output (IO) points to the current standards.
