EPD Process Verification
The International EPD System, managed by EnvironDec, is the leading global program for Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), developed in accordance with ISO 14025, ISO 14040/14044, and EN 15804. Salas O’Brien (previously Epsten Group) is the only fully USA ISO 17065 accredited company authorized to certify your internal EPD process and provide Type III EPD verification for your products.
Is EPD process certification right for you?
If the client or company knows they will make or need more than three EPDs in the future, it makes sense to pursue EPD Process Verification.
How the certification works
We review your internal LCA and EPD processes against EnvironDec’s General Program Instructions (GPI). Once certified, your organization can use the Salas O’Brien EPD logo on your documentation, demonstrating compliance with Type III EPD requirements. Certification is maintained through an annual review of your processes, and all EPDs completed under a process certification are eligible for publication in the International EPD System.
Added value for LEED
Products covered by a certified EPD process contribute significantly to LEED credits:
- Counts as one (1) product under LEED v4
- Counts as one and a half (1.5) products under LEED v4.1 Materials and Resources: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Environmental Product Declarations
