Winter Weather Damage Analysis

Salas O’Brien provided crucial forensic meteorology services to assess weather conditions related to frozen pipes at a property. Our team comprehensively analyzed local storm reports and Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) data over ten days. The investigation revealed no wind-related storm reports within ten miles of the property, with maximum wind gusts of 39 mph from the north-northwest occurring twice.

Importantly, temperatures remained at or below freezing for most of the analysis, including a 150-hour consecutive stretch. By determining precise wind directions and temperature patterns, we delivered valuable insights into the potential causes of the frozen pipes. This detailed meteorological analysis enabled our client to make informed decisions regarding property damage claims and preventive measures.

Our expertise in pinpointing weather conditions at specific times and locations proved instrumental in understanding the extent, timing, and magnitude of winter weather impacts on the property.
