Wind or Wave Damage Analysis

Salas O’Brien provided crucial forensic meteorology and damage analysis services for a residence impacted by Hurricane Ian. Our team conducted a comprehensive assessment, combining forensic engineering inspection with detailed meteorological analysis. The engineering inspection revealed an intact roof covering but significant ground-level and interior water damage.

We utilized local water level sensors and Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) data to determine the timing of storm surges and wind impacts. Key findings showed that the peak storm surge of 11.5 feet occurred approximately one hour before hurricane-force winds
exceeding 100 mph reached the property.

This crucial timing information allowed our client to accurately attribute damage to wind or storm surge, clearly understanding the event sequence. By integrating engineering and meteorological expertise, we delivered valuable insights that enabled our client to make informed decisions
regarding insurance claims and restoration efforts.
