Utilities New Substation

Salas O’Brien is partnering with the City of Manassas to develop a new substation to power three local data center facilities for a Fortune 10 e-commerce company. Our team successfully  managed the challenge of designing a substation capable of supplying 300MVA with only 3.4 acres available, which required extensive coordination with all parties and existing site modifications. Our use of Revit in the design process has proven invaluable in successfully coordinating and delivering this project. The western half of the site, owned and maintained by Dominion Energy, will house a 220kV ring bus with two transmission lines and three taps to the City of Manassas equipment on the east side. A 220kV breaker, 220kV/34.5kV 167MVA transformer, and 34.5kV switchgear will be installed at each of the three taps, ensuring the utmost reliability and efficiency in the power supply system.
