Tablet Coater Solution Preparation Systems

Salas O’Brien completed seven system projects that provide blended products to their associated tablet coating systems. Each solution preparation system encompassed a series of three jacketed tanks that blend active and non-active product ingredients for delivery to their respective tablet coating system. Each tank provides solution agitation and temperature control. The systems also contain a dosing system to introduce purified water employing a Micro-Motion Flow Meter. Each tank has linear actuators and servo drives to raise and lower the lid with HMI-based controls. To provide operator safety, we configured the lids so that the motor brakes engage and maintain their position as the operator releases the raise/lower control. In addition, we used Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx control system to integrate the field devices with the ControLogix Programmable Automation Controller and the FactoryTalk View HMI/SCADA software.
