Solar Field Addition

Salas O’Brien engineered a new 4 megawatt (MW) ground-mount solar array addition. Building on the existing 3.5 MW solar array, our team designed solar photovoltaic panels, the racking system, inverters, 15kV cabling infrastructure, electrical substations, a monitoring and control system, site preparation, perimeter fencing, and a new access road. We worked closely with vendors and subconsultants to procure all primary equipment. We partnered with Terrasmart to develop the array’s racking system and performed pull testing to deliver a secure, safe system. We collaborated with AlsoEnergy to update the site’s Modbus Server software, modernizing the instrumentation and controls. Leveraging our extensive experience, we secured all required permits and variances from state and local authorities. The new solar addition significantly reduced the client’s energy consumption and utility costs, positioning them in the top 25 percent for energy efficiency among similar facilities.
