Robert Green Company Hope Street Hotel

Salas O’Brien’s provided room acoustics, noise and vibration control, sound isolation, and environmental noise testing for this new high-end hotel in the Hope Street Mixed-Use Development. Some of the challenges included: isolating train noise due to the proximity to the rail line; mitigating noisy exhaust fans for the parking garage; and providing sound isolation for the variety of mixed-use spaces.

To reduce train noise, we reviewed options such as increasing glazing assemblies and resultant noise values in each hotel room. Solutions for the exhaust fans included extending ductwork to direct noise away from the opening of the parking garage to reduce the impact onto the sidewalk.

In addition, the building highlights a rooftop bar with performance platforms. We recommended increased construction assemblies for adjacent guest rooms to ensure guests were not affected by the noise.
