Resort Revitalization Project

Salas O’Brien has been providing integrated engineering design services for Pendry Natirar’s historic project for nearly two decades. This multiphased project required our team to modernize historic structures into high-end, tech-enabled spaces while minimizing new construction, preserving the landscape, and controlling long‑term operating costs.

The project also preserved much of the original property, transforming it into a space with a hotel, ballroom, social lounge/gym, and pool club, as well as a cooking school/farm-to-table restaurant. Our team carefully adapted existing buildings with high-efficiency mechanical and electrical systems, advanced controls, and resilient infrastructure, reducing energy use by up to 75%. These savings supported the successful use of commercial property assessed clean energy financing and overlooked that each improvement met or exceeded ASHRAE standards, delivering lasting value in sustainability, guest experience, and financial performance. The resort is a true example of a successful adaptive reuse project with both architectural and sustainable significance.
