Unprecedented investment enhances learning-living experience

Quinnipiac University South Quad
Salas O’Brien played a key role in advancing the next phase of Quinnipiac University’s 10-year master facilities plan, providing comprehensive engineering services to support the university’s commitment to transformative campus improvements.
Building on this commitment, the South Quad features a new 79,000-square-foot academic building that houses the School of Business, an innovation hub, a financial technology center, faculty offices, and event space. In addition, a 137,000-square-foot general academic building housing labs, a greenhouse, an animal research facility, and an auditorium accommodates expansion of the University’s classrooms and faculty offices. The new 417-bed, air-conditioned residence hall supports the University’s 3-year live-on-campus requirement and enhances the overall student experience.
To further support the vision for these new facilities, our team designed a high-energy-efficient central plant that features condensing boilers (LTHW) for reduced fuel consumption, high-efficiency magnetic-electric chillers for lower energy use, variable-frequency drives on pumps to optimize power based on demand, and high-efficiency cooling towers to improve heat rejection and save water.
