Pulp and Paper Mill Upgrades

Salas O’Brien provided electrical, and instrumentation and control engineering services to upgrade Georgia-Pacific’s Monticello mill. The project involved replacing the aging plant air system with state-of-the-art 1,500 HP compressors to deliver reliable, redundant compressed air across the mill. Our services included power distribution, control system design, equipment specification, and construction support. Advanced on-demand controls seamlessly integrated with the mill’s programmable logic controller (PLC) infrastructure, optimizing performance and reducing energy consumption.

Despite the challenge of maintaining operations during installation, our team completed the project successfully. The new system enhanced operational stability, reduced maintenance costs, and supported sustainability goals by improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
