Oval City Central Energy Plant Design

Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive design services for a new Central Energy Plant (CEP) serving a large manufacturing complex. Our team engineered a robust system featuring two 7.5 MW combustion turbine generators, each equipped with a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and duct burner for enhanced steam production.

Our design allows each HRSG to generate 160,000 lb/hr of saturated steam at 150 pounds per square inch gauge. A key feature is the incorporation of diverter dampers, bypass stacks, and fresh air firing fans, enabling steam production during turbine maintenance. This flexible configuration provides an uninterrupted energy supply, maximizing efficiency and reliability.

Our integrated approach combines mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and geothermal, resulting in a state-of-the-art CEP that optimizes energy utilization and supports the client’s manufacturing operations.
