North Bliss Tower Addition

Salas O’Brien provided designs for a new five-story building adjacent to the existing thirteen-story Bliss building, connecting existing surgery and imaging floors in the tower with new space. Our designs included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems located on the ground floor, including central HVAC, fire protection, and electrical infrastructure systems with full redundancy to support reliable power and system backup. We designed the HVAC system with built-in redundancy to meet the surgical suites.

Additionally, our digital control system monitors all critical building systems, which facilitates operational efficiency and safety. We also provided a computational fluid dynamics wind-wake analysis to confirm that generator exhaust air did not affect neighboring air intakes during medevac flights to and from the helipad on the adjacent Bliss Tower rooftop. This reflected our commitment to sustainable and safe hospital engineering, as well as our collaboration with contractors to facilitate a successful project completion.
