New Receiving Building

Salas O’Brien provided detailed design services for the installation of a new receiving building for an agricultural corn starch product. Because the product generated combustible dust, the client faced the challenge of safely conveying material through a complex network of equipment while meeting applicable safety and code requirements. Without a clear understanding of combustible dust hazards, the new facility could face increased fire and explosion risks, potential regulatory concerns, equipment damage, operational disruptions, and risk to personnel. We provided Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA), and hazardous area classification services to identify hazards, evaluate safeguards, establish hazardous area boundaries, and confirm explosion protection requirements. After analysis, we provided the design to help our client reduce combustible dust risks, support code compliance, protect critical assets, and build confidence in the safe, reliable operation of the new receiving process.
