CFS panelization enables high performance cost-effective building envelope design
JAMAICA PLAIN, MA, USA
Modernization at Mildred C. Hailey Apartments Phase 1 CFS Design
Built between the late 1930s and early 1950s, the Heath Street and Bromley Park developments —now the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments (MCHA)—provide critical safety-net housing for Jamaica Plain families. A multi-phase revitalization is delivering long-needed upgrades focused on high-performance buildings. To improve building envelopes without costly time-consuming demolition, Salas O’Brien provided engineering for the CFS panelization over existing brick cladding.
Drawing on our CFS panelization expertise, we engineered a constructible anchorage system through the brick to maximize tolerance, provide deflection compatibility, and enable the successful field installation of the new cladding panels. When asbestos was discovered behind the brick, our team further refined the detail to minimize drilling.
