Medical Center Expansion

Salas O’Brien delivered crucial structural and integrated steel design for St. Luke’s Medical Center expansion, which includes a 175,000-square-foot hospital and a new 110,000-square-foot medical office building, broadening the range of care available on campus. The facility features a central plant, full hospital support facilities, vibration-sensitive operating rooms on elevated floors, quiet rooms with advanced sound attenuation, and innovative rooftop and secondary systems for isolating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and medical functions. The expanded hospital includes family-friendly patient suites, women’s and children’s services, advanced operating rooms, and comprehensive imaging and cancer care.

Our team helped expedite the schedule by integrating steel design services, reducing the construction schedule by a couple of months. The overall steel supply contract was within 2% of the initial budget set during schematic design, using Target Value Delivery. We also helped expedite the schedule for the new medical office building through integrated design services, reducing construction time.
