Adaptable substation creates opportunities for expansion to meet local demand
MUNCIE, INDIANA, USA
Medford Substation Rebuild
Salas O’Brien provided design services for a leading electrical power provider nationwide to assist in a series of substation rebuilds and expansions. The capacity of the existing stations was incapable of meeting the community’s growing need for electricity, requiring the client to undergo significant updates to their system.
The updates comprised 138/69/34.5kV transformers with a 34.5kV ground bank, two 138kV transmission lines, and a 34.5kV transmission line. Our design focused on the possibility of expansion to meet increasing demand, creating an adaptable substation that can be repurposed based on future needs without excessive cost or outage times. With our team’s expertise in power and utilities, we strengthened the local electric transmission system, reduced the likelihood of power outages, and sped up recovery times in the event of an outage while remaining on time and under budget.
