Long Term Care

In response to the growing demand for long-term care in Ontario, North York General Hospital is expanding its healthcare campus with a new 384- bed facility. Salas O’Brien is providing integrated mechanical, electrical, lighting, telecommunications, AV infrastructure, and security design for this large-scale development, which consolidates services across a 268,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility.

The project replaces 192 aging beds while adding 192 new ones, and introduces dedicated space for behavioral support and convalescent care. The development includes over 23,000 square feet of medical office space, a retail component, and a structured parking facility, all connected through shared infrastructure designed for long-term performance.

By aligning building systems with the needs of both residents and clinical staff, we’re helping to realize a purpose-built care environment where healthcare delivery and daily living can operate side-by-side.
