Local History Center Co-Working Space

The Local History Center Co-Working Space in Gretna, Louisiana, blends historic charm with modern functionality in a 21,000-square-foot building. The first floor is an open tenant space, and the renovation of the second and third floors preserve the building’s significance and leverage tax credits for its revitalization. The project not only rejuvenated a valuable historical property but also enhanced its preservation and ongoing significance within the city’s evolving urban fabric.

Salas O’Brien provided fire suppression, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Key solutions included modifying the fire suppression system for the new layout, designing energy-efficient HVAC, and providing seamless integration of modern electrical systems in the historic building. Our effective blend of contemporary design and historical preservation creates a lively, functional co-working space for the community while honoring its architectural heritage.
