Lithium-Ion Battery Storage Warehouse

Salas O’Brien provided the MEP engineering design for The Raymond Corporation’s new lithium-ion battery manufacturing and storage facility in Kirkwood, NY. The facility supports Raymond’s growing portfolio of forklifts and other warehouse vehicles while helping to meet the increasing demand for cleaner energy solutions through the production and storage of lithium-ion batteries that offer faster charging and lower maintenance requirements than traditional lead-acid batteries.

Our design for facility upgrades included HVAC, electrical, fire protection, lighting, office, and lobby improvements, along with a new warehouse and battery verification area for lithium battery storage and testing. Specific MEP system upgrades included a natural gas emergency generator, new fire alarm system, overhead busway power distribution, 50 HP fire pump systems, an ESFR sprinkler system, and specialized exhaust and cooling systems for the battery verification room.
