Lhoist North America Kiln Installation

Salas O’Brien participated in the mechanical, electrical, and structural design for the expansion of Lhoist’s Montevallo plant, which included the installation of a new kiln. Our team was responsible for the design of the stone receiving, stone yard/reclaim tunnel, stone silos, kiln exhaust duct/stack, blower house, kiln platforms, personnel elevator, lime kiln dust, run of kiln areas, and grounding. We collaborated closely with the client and suppliers to stay ahead of schedule throughout the procurement process, as construction of the kiln/blower house was underway during engineering. In addition, we specified equipment, solicited bids, performed bid evaluation, and held an open line of communication with the client and vendors throughout the approval process. The expansion was completed successfully, greatly enhancing the plant’s production capacity
