Largo Hurricane Milton Response

Salas O’Brien worked closely with HCA Healthcare’s Special Operations Response Team to assess the damage from Hurricane Milton and provide direction on restoring temporary utilities. The storm caused severe flooding on the hospital’s ground floor, damaging the central energy plant (CEP), the sterile processing department (SPD), and the kitchen, rendering the facility offline.

Our team played a crucial role in restoring essential hospital systems. What would normally take six to seven months of design work was completed in just a few weeks to rebuild the powerhouse, SPD, and kitchen. Team members rotated continuously on-site, working closely with contractors to keep the project moving forward. Their collaborative efforts led to a
successful final state inspection, marking a significant milestone in a recovery effort that once seemed nearly impossible.
