Glanbia Nutritionals Cheese Block Stacker System

Salas O’Brien provided expert design and engineering services to update the client’s outdated production and packaging system. In 2006, our team provided a robotic cheese block stacking system, designed to safely expedite the removal and staging of the 640 lb product. After 12 years the system reached the end of it’s life cycle, and we returned to provide the next generation stacker.

The updated system incorporates the Fanuc 900L robot and allows for the unloading of one station while a second station is stacked. Utilizing leading-edge technology, our new system has the strength to handle 850 lb cheese blocks and align them without needing complex vision cameras. Stacking 3 blocks high with a block picked and placed every 50 seconds, the system has allowed efficiency and productivity at the facility to soar
