Increasing response time to Mansfield’s southeast side
MANSFIELD, TX, USA
Fire Station No. 5
The southeast portion of Mansfield experienced rapid growth over the last decade, resulting in a significant portion of the city’s population residing in homes and working in businesses that exceed the five-minute drive time goal established by the Fire Department and approved by the City Administration. The location of this fire station provides citizens living in the southeast portion of the city with the same coverage and response times as those in the northwest and northeast portions of the city.
Salas O’Brien provided structural engineering services for this new fire station. It houses five firefighters/paramedics per shift operating a ladder truck, ambulance, brush truck, inflatable water rescue boat, reserve engine, and reserve ambulance.
The design features individual bedrooms rather than dormitory-style bunk rooms. The foundation design includes load-bearing CMU and light-gauge steel for the walls and roof trusses.
