Finish Mill Separators Replacement

Salas O’Brien provided engineering services to Ash Grove Cement to replace the separators on two finish mill circuits. Our design included replacing critical material handling components such as fans, cyclones, bag fillers, chutes, and ducts. The project design and construction plan involved two phases. The initial phase focused on structural steel modifications, roof removal preparations, and electrical gear installation while maintaining mill production.

The second phase involved supporting the demolition of existing separator systems, installation of new high efficiency separators, associated ancillaries, and electrical/controls systems. With the benefit of our laser scanning and existing conditions modeling, the installation was successful. The new installation is much more efficient, maintainable, and safe thanks to our value engineering and design.
