Equipment Asset Criticality Analysis

NASA Headquarters Office of Strategic Infrastructure (OSI) awarded Salas O’Brien three phases of contracts to perform Equipment Asset Criticality Analysis (EACA) at various locations. As part of NASA’s Tiered-Maintenance (TM) initiative, our team analyzed equipment criticality based on safety, environmental impact, mission importance, downtime, and replacement costs. This approach integrated EACA data into each site’s MAXIMO asset management system, optimizing maintenance resource allocation and enhancing operational reliability. Phase one established the analysis criteria via NASA Interim Directive 8831.124 and included EACA ratings at Goddard Space Flight Center, Wallops Flight Facility, and White Sands Test Facility.

Phase two extended the analysis to Armstrong Flight Research Center, Kennedy Space Center, Johnson Space Center, and Marshall Space Flight Center. Phase three covered the Ames Research Center, Glenn Research Center, Langley Research Center, Michoud Assembly Facility, and Stennis Space Center.
