Resilient steel structure delivers safe, flexible elementary campus
BOISE, ID, USA
Elementary School New Campus
Salas O’Brien designed the structure for Dallas Harris Elementary School, a three-story, semi-urban campus serving 500–600 students in the Boise School District. Our team engineered a structural steel-framing system for this 60,000-square-foot facility, which includes classrooms, a gym/cafeteria, and administrative offices. We addressed the challenging high-water-table site by installing deep foundations and performing dewatering.
By integrating the steel structure with the architectural concept—open stairwell, large classroom windows, and top-floor outdoor learning spaces—our team delivered a safe, flexible, and resilient framework that supports modern pedagogy, natural light, and long-term durability for the school community.
