Expert forensic assessment saves re-cladding costs
NEW YORK CITY, NY, USA
Development-Wide Construction Defects Evaluation
Salas O’Brien provided construction dispute resolution and litigation support services for a confidential client in a 250-unit housing development facing allegations of construction defects in exterior claddings. Our forensic engineers inspected all buildings, performing moisture probe tests and destructive test cuts to assess the extent of moisture intrusion. A detailed review of all of the raw data previously collected by others over a span of nearly 10 years was also conducted.
We meticulously analyzed the methodologies of opposing experts and reviewed applicable building codes from various construction phases. Our investigation revealed that moisture intrusion was minimal and localized, with no need for complete re-cladding. In addition, we developed a remedial action plan and repair cost estimates, providing critical support throughout the litigation process. This comprehensive analysis enabled the client to effectively address claims and make informed repair decisions, ultimately protecting their investment.
