Denver Central Library Renovations

The Denver Central Library was originally constructed in the 1950s, with an expansion in the 1990s. The community hub underwent its first major renovation since then to upgrade the space and create a more welcoming environment for its 2,500 daily visitors. Throughout the renovation, the team balanced modernizing the building with integrating new interior systems.

Salas O’Brien provided acoustic and technology design services, including security, AV, and data. The project included a reimagined central lobby, dedicated teen area, community and meeting rooms, and an events space. One of our main focuses was improving the building’s safety, achieved through enhanced security systems at entrances and throughout the building. Acoustics design addressed noise and vibration control, sound isolation, and sound absorption techniques to create a comfortable and welcoming environment.
