Course Tailings Stacking

Salas O’Brien is providing comprehensive engineering services for a leading soda ash manufacturer’s tailings management facility. This project is being executed in two strategic phases. In phase one, our team designed innovative solutions to transport course slurry from the processing facility to the tailings management facility over a mile away. The scope included partnering with key technology experts to deliver a robust design in a harsh environment to minimize the risk of downtime for the processing facility.

The main objective was to manage 75% of the tailings made of coarse particles and reduce water consumption. The second phase manages the remaining 25% of the tailings, which comprises fine particles. Our team will achieve this by utilizing filtering technology. Our team is providing planning expertise to consider and optimize future infrastructure needs.
