Sustainable design reduces operating costs for Barclays
WHIPPANY, NJ, USA
Corporate Office Buildings Renovation
Salas O’Brien partnered with Barclays to strategically transform its Whippany “Campus of the Future”, renovating multiple office buildings and designing two new parking garages. While the project is nearing completion, the biggest challenge was performing construction while employees were still on-site and occupying the buildings.
Our team proactively addressed the complexities introduced by Barclays’ workplace densification initiative, such as non-designated workstations, by engineering customized solutions that upgraded HVAC and electrical systems to support increased occupancy. Our technology-driven, sustainability-focused approach reduced longterm operating expenses and enhanced the employee experience. This project established a new global engineering benchmark for Barclays and was instrumental in securing prestigious certifications, including LEED Gold, WELL Building Design, and NJEDA green building design, underscoring the lasting value delivered to our client.
