Spray Dryer & Agglomerator Expansion
Salas O’Brien collaborated with a food processing client to design and install a new spray dryer for a corn processing operation, and construct a facility that doubled the packaging capability of food-grade starch. With a total project capital of $30 million, the system included a spray dryer, dry material handling and storage, bag filling, integration of vendor-supplied bag-in-box packaging, container inspection, container palletizing, and support systems like compressed air. We provided design services in civil, structural, and architectural fields, along with process engineering, instrumentation, and the selection of packaging and material handling equipment. Additionally, we offered electrical engineering, construction support, and startup assistance.
Our team delivered significant value through cGMP food-grade design, utilizing 3-D design tools, and issuing phased construction packages for fast-track construction. We coordinated closely with the owner’s structural design firm, seamlessly integrating equipment support elements.
