Clean-in-Place Process Integration
Salas O’Brien provided comprehensive process engineering and design services for a new clean-n-place (CIP) system. We designed and distributed CIP systems across two drug substance manufacturing buildings, with our team as the lead consultant. Our services included specifying, purchasing, and conducting factory acceptance tests (FAT) for four CIP superskids, each featuring five CIP stations and two WPU/WFI supply tanks.
In addition, we integrated eight parts washers, two Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC)/Tote washers, and five autoclaves, totaling $20 million in capital equipment. Our team supported the technology transfer, oversaw subject matter experts, and coordinated the development of equipment specifications, distribution piping design, and vendor fabrication activities, including 12 Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) visits to various manufacturers.
