Clinker Dome Detail Engineering

Salas O’Brien assisted our client in designing a third clinker dome silo at their California plant. The third clinker dome, has the same dimensions and capacity as the previous two, and houses 42,000 tons of clinker for cement production. We conducted a laser scan of the designated area to develop a comprehensive model of the existing tie-ins and structures. Our team designed all of the material handling systems and specified the equipment to feed and withdraw clinker from the dome and to interface effectively with the existing plant material handling systems. In addition, we developed the engineering for the ancillary systems, including piping, nuisance dust collection, and chute work. To confirm we incorporated the client’s discretionary preferences into the design, we performed SMACCTM reviews at key stages of the design process. Our team delivered a new dome system design that integrates seamlessly into the existing clinker storage system, providing much-needed enclosed storage capacity.
