Central Plains Cement Vertical Roller Mill

Salas O’Brien assisted Central Plains Cement in their mission to expand their cement grinding, storage, and loadout capacity. The project moved forward with installing a new 55 tons per hour (tph) modular vertical roller mill system, coupled with two new 2,000 ton reinforced concrete cement silos for truck loadout.

Our team provided all detailed engineering, including clinker and additive feed transport to the new mill, cement cooling, cement transport to the silos, and a new self-service truck loadout system. We utilized terrestrial laser scanning and 3D modeling to capture the existing conditions of the facility, ensuring effective interfaces between new and existing equipment in a highly congested area. To address equipment safety, maintenance, and access- as well as project constructability and coordination requirements, conducted SMACCTM reviews at key design milestones.
