Cemex Additive Bins Replacement

Salas O’Brien provided engineering and design services to upgrade Cemex’s raw materials additives processing system, which was experiencing reliability and performance issues. To improve the additives system, the plant’s chalk, sand, and limestone bins, and their associated feed and discharge systems, were analyzed and upgraded. Our team was responsible for the detailed design of the new storage bins, hanging hoppers, discharge interface, weigh feeders, and feed system. To secure the best outcome possible, we collaborated with original equipment manufacturers ensuring optimal interface throughout the new material handling system. The project included significant challenges related to new to existing equipment interfaces. In order to safeguard that these interface issues were addressed properly, our team captured an accurate representation of the site using laser scanning and 3D modeling. The new process design resulted in smooth material throughput processing, which benefits the plant’s overall production ability.
