Case Packer Replacement

Salas O’Brien provided expert design, engineering, construction management and commissioning services to upgrade a high-speed automated can packaging line. The process previously utilized Hi-Cone plastic rings to group the aluminum cans into 4 & 6 packs. Motivated by recent sustainability efforts and legislation, the client sought to eliminate the use of plastic rings. The Hi-Cone equipment was replaced with a compostable cardboard holder applicator. In addition, the tray former, tray packer and shrink wrapper were replaced as part of the project. Due to the new holder applicator, tray former and tray packer being much larger than the previous ones, the surrounding equipment was efficiently reconfigured into a better layout with minimal impacts. Thanks to our team’s expertise in packaging and automation, this project could be fast-tracked for completion to meet legislative and consumer demands.
